On this page you'll find information about
•  Registration
•  Cross-Boundary Transfers
•  The Family Reception Centre
•  International Students
•  Transportation

Registration

Step 1
Use the School Locator to find your child's designated school.  This is the school your child should attend based on where you live in Ottawa.  To view attendance boundary maps of the OCDSB's secondary schools, please click here.

Step 2
✔︎ If Lisgar is your child's designated school, please call the school's Main Office at 613-239-2696 to make a registration appointment.

 If Lisgar is not your child's designated school, you may apply for a cross-boundary transfer (see below).

Step 3
Be sure to bring the following important documents to your appointment:
•  Proof of address (property tax bill, assessment notice, purchase of sale agreement, or rental agreement);
•  A minimum of one other form of identification that includes the address and the guardian's name (which may include the previous list as well as utility bills, driver's license, etc.);
•  Copy of Canadian Birth Certificate, Passport, or Permanent Resident documentation;
•  Your child's Ontario Health Card (if applicable);
•  Most recent transcript/credit counselling summary showing all completed/in progress secondary school courses;
•  Most recent report card;
•  Individual Education Plan (IEP) if applicable;
•  Academic or Psychological Assessments if applicable.

Immunizations:
Ottawa Public Health requires proof that your child has received proper immunization.  All children attending school in Ontario must be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles and rubella, unless there is a valid exemption.  For more information, contact the Ottawa Public Immunization Program at 613-580-6744, or visit www.ottawa.ca/health.

Step 4
Families are encouraged to review our school's Secondary Course Guide and to plan course selection with their child prior to their registration appointment.  A printable version of our guide is available by clicking here.

Cross-Boundary Transfers
Families living outside of Lisgar's catchment area, who wish to enroll their child at our school, need to apply for a cross-boundary transfer.  Cross-boundary transfers are not guaranteed and are subject to school enrollment.  For more information, please click here.

Please note:
⚠️ Due to our high enrollment, our student transfer cap us currently set at zero;
⚠️ Please see the Transportation section below regarding transportation eligibility for students approved for a cross-boundary transfer.

New to Canada?
Our school board's Family Reception Centre is designed to help with the registration of:

•  New students who have not previously attended school in English
•  Some Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents who have been studying abroad for more than one year
•  Some international students
If your child meets this criteria, please call the Family Reception Centre to begin your registration.
