Cooperative Education

Cooperative Education

What is Cooperative Education (Co-op)?

Students who take this elective course earn credits during their regular school day while test driving a career that interests them.

Key benefits
Apply your strengths, interests and special skills in this experiential form of learning
Provides you an enhanced and enriched learning experience outside of the classroom
Develop and refine your employability skills
Make contacts in career fields you might want to pursue

What kinds are available?
Co-ops are available in almost any job sector.  You can either arrange a co-op placement yourself or work with your co-op teacher to find one.  Co-op is available as either a half day (2-credit) course (full morning or full afternoon), or as a full day (4-credit) course.

How do I sign up for Co-op?
You can select either the 1CO3AD - Cooperative Education (half day - 2 credit) or 1CO44D - Cooperative Education (full day - 4 credit) course as you would any other course by either making an appointment with your Guidance Counsellor, or selecting it in Career Cruising for next year.
