Course Changes for 2020-2021

As of Friday, May 29, 2020 there will be a pause on all course change requests until the first day of school in September.

Timetables

Students will receive their 2020-2021 timetables the first day of school in September.  Beginning the first day of school, your parents/guardians (or you if you are 18 years old) will be able to resume requesting changes online to your 2020-2021 course selection.

September Course Add/Drop Period

The September course add/drop period will start the first day of the school year and run the first two weeks of September.  During that time your parents/guardians (or you if you are 18 years old) will be able to request changes online to all your courses.  After the two week course add/drop period in September, you will no longer be able to add/start a new semester 1 course; however, you will still be able to request changes to your semester 2 courses.  Eligible Grade 11 and 12 students will still be able to request to drop a semester 1 course at any point in the semester by making an appointment with their Guidance Counsellor.

February Course Add/Drop Period

The February course course add/drop period will run the first week of the start of semester 2.  During this time your parents/guardians (of you if you are 18 years old) will be able to request changes online to your semester 2 courses.  After the one week course add/drop period in February, you will no longer be able to add/start a new semester 2 course.  Eligible Grade 11 and 12 students will still be able to request to drop a semester 2 course at any point in the semester by making an appointment with their Guidance Counsellor.

Course Waiting Lists

Students on a waiting list for a semester 1 course have up until the end of the two week September course add/drop period to be added to their waitlisted course(s).  Students who we are not able to place by that time will, unfortunately, not be able to take their waitlisted semester 1 course(s).

Students on a waiting list for a semester 2 course have up until the end of the one week February course add/drop period to be added to their waitlisted course(s).  Students who we are not able to place by that time will, unfortunately, not be able to take their waitlisted semester 2 course(s).

Dropping Courses & Full Disclosure Dates

There is no deadline for eligible students to drop a course.  Outside of the September and February course add/drop periods, please make an appointment with your Guidance Counsellor to discuss dropping a course.

Grade 11 and 12 courses (i.e., courses with codes that contain the numbers 3 or 4, for example, NBE3U Grade 11 English) that are dropped by a Full Disclosure Date will not appear on your Ontario Student Transcript.  Grade 11 and 12 courses dropped after the Full Disclosure Date will appear on your Ontario Student Transcript with the code "W" indicating that you withdrew from the course, along with your approximate mark as of the date you withdrew.  Withdrawn courses are not used in determining grade averages.  Full Disclosure Dates do not apply to Grade 9 or 10 courses (i.e., courses with codes that contain the numbers 1 or 2, for example, ENG1D Grade 9 English).

Full Disclosure Dates are always five school days after the mid-term report cards in November and April.  Please see the school's calendar for this year's dates.

Waiting Lists

While we cannot predict movement on course waiting lists, the majority of students get into their requested courses.
