Students focus on a career path that matches their skills, interests and talents while earning their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

Key benefits
You will earn the SHSM Red Seal with a Specialist designation on your high school diploma;
You'll gain relevant skill development through experiential learning;
You'll earn industry recognized certifications;
You'll have opportunities for innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.

General SHSM program components:
●  Bundle of 7-9 credits (Grade 11 & 12, including 2 Co-op credits);
●  Industry sector recognized certifications (compulsory & electives);
●  Experiential learning opportunities (work experience & job shadowing);
●  Reach Ahead opportunities (post-secondary);
●  Essential skills and work habits;
●  Innovation, Creativity, Entrepreneurship Training (ICE).

What kinds are available?
There are currently 35 different SHSM programs offered at the schools across the OCDSB.  Each school offers a different SHSM.  As a Lisgar student, you are able to take our Food Preparation & Event Coordination SHSM, or take a SHSM offered at another school.  Speak with your Guidance Counsellor for more information.
